Click the green button to visit Sefton Council's School admissions page. There are two guides to read, which can be found below in our Downloads section or on the Sefton Council admissions page - Sefton Parents Guide to School Admissions 2026 and Admissions Schools Information Guide 2026 (Great Crosby information is on pages 41 and 42).
We will shortly be inviting parents and carers into school for tours. Please return to check for dates.
Please read our Admissions Criteria. If you have a baptismal certificate, then please complete the Supplementary Information Form and return it to school. If you do not have a baptismal certificate, then you will also need to complete the Archdiocesan Supplementary Faith Form.
In Sefton, all schools provide for the admission of children in the September following their fourth birthday and most parents/carers are happy for their child to start school at this point. By law, a child is not required to start full time education until the child has reached compulsory school age. Most children will thrive if they are admitted into reception class aged four. However, some parents/carers may be concerned that their child is not ready for school at that age. The full policy is below in the downloads section. Click the green button to visit Sefton's webpage.
We offer 15 hour and 30 hour places in Nursery.
All 3 to 4 year olds in England can access 570 hours of free childcare. At Great Crosby this is 15 hours per week for 38 weeks of the year (term time). Click/tap the green button to find out more.
Some 3 to 4 year olds with working parents are eligible for 30 hours of free childcare per week.
The parent/carer must apply for the additional 15 hours on the gov.uk website and HMRC will check the eligibility. This must be done once a term, in the term before the provider (Great Crosby) wish to access the funding i.e. by 31st August for funding in the autumn term. When you have the HMRC code, we will validate it with Sefton and can then confirm the 30 hour place. Click/tap the green button to find out more and apply.
15 and 30 hour funded places are 'free of charge' to parents/carers. However, we do charge a Wednesday lunchtime supervision fee for 30 hours children (this time is not included in the 30 hours) - this is paid termly and is currently £6 per week.
All parents/carers are asked to make a contribution towards snacks. The money also contributes towards providing enhancements to the curriculum such as purchasing ingredients for playdough, seeds to grow vegetables in our garden and books linked to children's interest and topics.
Parents/carers are invited to apply for a place in the nursery at any point during the academic year (1st September – 31st August) in which their child reaches his/her second birthday. Nursery places are usually allocated in late March/April prior to the September intake.
The date of application will apply in the case of over-subscription.
In the downloads section there is a parental declaration form for universal entitlement for 3 and 4 year olds. This is a mandatory declaration for all parents/carers accessing Early Years education for their child.
The government provides funding for schools to help children from lower income families, called 'Pupil Premium'. There is also funding for children who are entitled to the Disability Living Allowance. Please read section 3 carefully, if you think you may be entitled to these.
If you are new to the area or wish to transfer your child, please click on the green button below.
