Great Crosby Catholic Primary School
Dear Parents and Carers,
Hello! We are so looking forward to teaching your children this year! We just wanted to give you the heads up about swimming, so that you can be ready.
3M and 3C will be going swimming first. Swimming starts the first full week back and is on Thursday 14th September. Our swimming sessions are in Formby Baths. 3M and 3C will be swimming until February half term, and then 3B and 3A will go until the end of the year.
For swimming, your child will need:
- a towel;
-a swimming costume- swimming trunks or shorts which are not baggy eg tight to the body; a one piece swimming costume- no bikinis/tankinis;
- a swimming hat;
-goggles.
If your child has a verruca, they will need to wear a verruca sock.
Please take any earrings out before your child comes to school that day.
All of the above requirements are from the Sefton Active Aquatics Team, who organise school swimming sessions. Your child may attend Formby Baths for lessons already, and isn't required to meet the above requirements. Formby Baths rules are different from Active Aquatic rules, and to be able to swim at school, your child will need to follow the above requirements.
Many thanks for your support and we look forward to meeting you all in September.
Kind regards,
Ms. Miller (Y3/4 Phase Leader).

Here is an update on the reading opportunities for Year 3 children at Great Crosby. Page 1 and 4 are shown first, click Next/Previous below to change the pages.
Recommended books can be found here:
While learning about the King's Coronation, 3M devised their own Royal Charter.
They also chose some slightly more unlikely pledges.
3C have been studying fossils and even had the chance to make their own using plaster of Paris.
Year Three have been studying Weather and Climate in Geography.
On National Poetry Day, Year Three were busy following the Children’s Laureate’s style (Joseph Coelho) to write their own poems called ‘ Say How You Feel’. They will be sent home next week.
We have written some poems in the style of Joseph Coelho based on Crosby to complement our geography topic.
At Great Crosby, we have been learning about The COP26 Climate Change Conference. We enjoyed making posters about how to look after our earth and posters about climate change. Please click on the link to see our photographs.
In order to try to maintain the love and teaching of reading at home, we have purchased an online reading scheme, run by the book company Collins.
This allows teachers to assign books to your child to read online at home. Parents and carers should have received an email with the login details last year. Click on the image above for the login page.
Home learning work during lockdown and isolations was for Year 3 on Microsoft Teams. Please watch this video if you need a reminder about how to use it.
