At Great Crosby Primary School, we understand the value of a progressive and fluid curriculum. With that in mind, we have created these curriculum progression documents using the objectives from the National Curriculum. We strive to incorporate our local community, area and history wherever possible. Our Curriculum is forever changing depending on the needs of our children and local and national events. Our vision is to provide our pupils with a breadth of skills and knowledge so that they can build on these as the foundation of their education.

At Great Crosby we follow the Little Wandle phonics scheme. We invested in the scheme in 2022 and it covers phonics from Early Years Foundation Stage, Year 1 and Year 2. Within the Little Wandle scheme we have updated our reading scheme to Collins E-books for EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2. These books are matched to your child's phonic ability and are 90% decodable to them. The e-books are allocated every Friday by your child's class teacher.
Click on the image for the Little Wandle Resources For Parents page. The resources on this page will help you support your child with saying their sounds and writing their letters. There are also some useful videos so you can see how they are taught at school and feel confident about supporting their reading at home.
